Zack Snyder has confirmed that the Man Of Steel sequel will see Superman facing off with the Dark Knight himself, with Henry Cavill to confront a new Batman.
“Let’s face it, it’s beyond mythological to have Superman and our new Batman facing off, since they are the greatest superheroes in the world,” enthused Snyder.
The news was introduced by Harry Lennix, who played General Swanwick in Man Of Steel. Lennix delivered a line that we all know well from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns: “I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you.”
Would Snyder and David S. Goyer attempt to recreate Miller’s story with a younger Batman? Or are they just conveying the tone? Or did they just want to get everyone fired up with a really cool Batman quote from one of the best-loved graphic novels?
Either way, the rumour mill for who will play Batman starts here, and it seems likely that this film would lead into DC’s Justice League film. Cavill and the cast of Man Of Steel will return in 2015.
Man Of Steel is still in cinemas, and you can buy The Dark Knight Returns for £14.99 at Amazon.co.uk.
