EDIT: The trailer has been taken down since this post was first published.
It’s been in production for what has felt like decades (in reality, about three years), but Krypton is finally starting to look like a real thing… Here’s the first trailer:
Pretty intense, right?
For those unsure of what the heck Krypton is, it’s Syfy’s upcoming Superman prequel series is set two generations before the destruction of the Man of Steel’s home planet. The series will revolve around Superman’s grandad Seg-El, played by Cameron Cuffe (Florence Foster Jenkins), as he “fights to redeem his family’s honour and save his beloved world from chaos,” according to Deadline.
The show will also highlight a forbidden relationship between Seg-El and Lyta Zod (the daughter of the General Alura Zod), played by Georgina Campbell (BBC Three’s Murdered By My Boyfriend). The DC Comics characters that will feature in the show were created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.
Krypton has been developed by Man Of Steel and Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justicewriter David S Goyer, who will also step in as an executive producer through his Phantom Four banner.
The Girl With All The Gifts helmer Colm McCarthyhas directed the show’s pilot episode for Warner Horizon TV, while Sleepy Hollow‘s Damian Kindler is serving as executive producer and showrunner. Kindler also joined Goyer in rewriting the original script for the pilot, which Goyer wrote with Ian Goldberg (Once Upon A Time).
