Good news for horror anthology fans, who by now will surely have horror anthologies coming out of their ears: HBO Max is developing a new one title Point Horror, according to Variety.
The show is based on the Scholastic book series of the same name. Point Horror, which first launched in 1991, featured published work from authors like R.L. Stine, Diane Hoh, Richie Tankersley Cusick, Christopher Pike and Caroline B Cooney.
The TV project is coming from Picturestart and Lionsgate Television, and is being described as an anthology series that exposes the horrors of being a teenager. Each episode will be inspired by one of the books in the Scholastic series, told for today’s audiences but with a nostalgic nod to the 1990s.
Though many authors published stories with Point Horror, the TV series will mostly focus on those written by Goosebumps author R. L. Stine.
Jon M Chu (Crazy Rich Asians) is in negotiations to direct and executive produce the series. Stine is also set to executive produce alongside Yvonne M Bernard, and Ryan Lindenberg will oversee the series for Picturestart.
