Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, which starred Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton, will be getting a sequel.
Bloody Disgusting reports that Paramount executive Edward Ryan stated at CineEurope that the studio is moving ahead with a sequel. It is assumed that the two stars will return, although it’s not confirmed.
The movie, in which Renner and Arterton played grown-up badass witch-hunting versions of the young fairytale characters, was not a critical success (read our review here) but it was a commercial one, making around $255 million worldwide. A sequel was reported on back in March last year, but it seems as though it’s still a project that Paramount are keen to make happen.
Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters was written and directed by Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow) and produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay.
