Production on Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy space epic is under way in London, and according to the house of whispers that is Latino-Review, Game Of Thrones, Conan and Stargate Atlantis favourite Jason Momoa flew out to try for the role of Drax The Destroyer.

Apparently he was cast on the spot, so impressed were they with his shirtless fury.

In the comics, Drax The Destroyer is a being specifically created to destroy Thanos – the post-credits tease at the end of Avengers Assemble, and the big bad of Phase 2 and beyond.

Originally human Arthur Douglas, following his death at the hands of the death-worshipping space god, his spirit is placed within the Destroyer body and he is given his one grim purpose, that brings him into conflict with other heroes as often as it does Thanos and his minions.

Guardians Of The Galaxy is due in cinemas 1 August 2014. Pick up James Gunn’s Super on DVD for £4.49 or Blu-ray for £6.99 from Amazon.co.uk.
