Gotham Season 3 confirmed – the Dark Knight will return

Fox has confirmed that Gotham will return for a third season

While The CW’s bevy of superhero smashes like Arrow, The Flash and Legends Of Tomorrow have continued to go from strength to strength, Fox’s Gotham has often felt like the poor relation by comparison, falling relatively below the radar. Apparently it has still achieved a decent level of success though, as Fox recently confirmed that the series will live on for at least another year, with Season 3 being confirmed.

While we’ll admit to not having religiously kept track of Gotham‘s progress, there does seem to have been an increased level of buzz in recent weeks, mainly thanks to the introduction BD Wong as Hugo Strange. With the likes of Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) and the Riddler (Cory Michael Smith) continuing their rise to immortal villainy, the young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) making further strides towards his Dark Knight destiny and the previously clean-cut Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) exhibiting more moral shades than we would have previously expected from the character, there’s definitely a reason to keep watching. Plus, sooner or later the Joker will appear, so there’s also that to look forward to.

Speaking in a statement about the announcement, David Madden, the president of entertainment at Fox Broadcasting Company, said, “It takes a very special team to tell the tales of ‘Gotham.’ For the past two seasons, Bruno, Danny and John have masterfully honored the mythology of Gotham and brought it to life with depth, emotion and memorable high drama,” said Madden. “This incredibly talented cast has redefined these iconic characters for a new generation, and we couldn’t be more proud of this show.”
