Ghost In The Shell new trailer goes big on plot and gunfights

More backstory, action and Michael Pitt in the new Ghost In The Shell trailer

Another trailer for Rupert Sanders’ US remake of classic anime Ghost In The Shell has arrived, and this one goes a lot deeper into the actual story, both in terms of the plot and the character of the Major, played by Scarlett Johansson.

Sanders has spoken about taking inspiration from the GITS franchise as a whole, and this trailer gives us a look at some more iconic moments, specifically from the first movie (the tank battle!), as well as a clear look at the villain, played by Hannibal‘s Michael Pitt.

“Based on the internationally-acclaimed Japanese Anime property, GHOST IN THE SHELL follows Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9 devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists. Directed by Rupert Sanders. The film stars Scarlett Johansson, “Beat” Takeshi Kitano, Juliette Binoche, Michael Pitt, Pilou Asbæk, and Kaori Momoi.”

Ghost In The Shell is in UK cinemas from 31 March. Get all the latest sci-fi news with every issue of SciFiNow.
