Defenders TV series adds Netflix Marvel regulars

2 familiar faces from Marvel’s Netflix world have joined The Defenders

While we’ve known from pretty much the beginning who the core cast for Marvel’s The Defenders would be, we haven’t really heard much about which of the respective supporting cast members from Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage or Iron Fist would reprising their roles. Now, this has changed, with Elden Henson’s Foggy Nelson and Eka Darville’s Malcolm Ducasse both being confirmed to reprise their roles.

Foggy’s less of a surprise, being a pretty much permanent fixture in the Marvel universe where Daredevil (Charlie Cox) is concerned, although it’s hard to see exactly how he’ll fit in, especially considering how his and Matt Murdock’s law firm pretty much disbanded at the end of Daredevil Season 2. The last we see of him he’s being offered a job by Carrie-Ann Moss’s Jeri Hogarth – how this ties into The Defenders, or indeed what his new position actually is, is anyone’s guess.

As for Malcolm, we’re sure he’ll be right there alongside Krysten Ritter’s Jessica, having pretty much appointed himself as her co-worker at Alias Investigations. He had a tough time during Jessica Jones‘ first season, being manipulated into becoming a heroin addict by David Tennant’s Kilgrave, but successfully came through the other side, and ended up becoming one of our favourite characters. While his role will likely be more of a supporting one this time round, it’s good to know that he will be back.

Henson and Darville join a cast that already includes leads Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter and Finn Jones. Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez will serve as showrunners, with Drew Goddard attached as exexutive producer.

The Defenders will air on Netflix sometime in 2017. You can download The 25 Greatest Marvel Comics digital edition from GreatDigitalMags.com now. For more news about the biggest movies, pick up the new issue of SciFiNow.
