The time has come for Leonardo and his allies to enter the Vault of Heaven. As Riario mourns his loss, his full commitment to the quest is realised. Despite attempts to side-line him, Riario refuses to be left behind.
But the final road to the Vault of Heaven is not an easy one to tread. The group face deadly perils and Leonardo must once again stretch his mind to navigate his way. The infamous notebook comes out, as he invents ‘The Scorpion’, the world’s first self-propelled cart. Once they reach the doors of the Vault of Heaven, a moment of high accomplishment, Riario and Leonardo experience a little key trouble…
Back in Florence there is an attack on the future of the Medici line, and Carlo and Clarice’s bond becomes even more intense.
All the pieces of the quest are coming together, and something, or someone, is calling Leonardo into the depths of the vault.
