Cowboy Ninja Viking finds a director in Michelle MacLaren

Chris Pratt’s Cowboy Ninja Viking has a third and hopefully final director attached

Chris Pratt’s upcoming passion project, a film adaptation of the Image Comics comic book Cowboy Ninja Viking, has found a new director in Michelle MacLaren.

The Universal film has had a bit of a nightmare with directors thus far: it originally had World War Z‘s Marc Forster attached to direct. Then Forster was replaced by John Wick helmers David Leitch and Chad Stahelski in 2015. But it now looks as though MacLaren is here to say.

The script is written by Zombieland‘s Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese. Pratt is the only star currently involved, but there now there’s a director attach there ought to be more announced soon.

The Cowboy Ninja Viking comic was written by AJ Lieberman and illustrated by Riley Rossmo. It tells the story of “a man who suffers from multiple personality disorder and is put into a government program to be turned into a super-soldier with the attributes of a cowboy, a ninja and a viking.”

Cowboy Ninja Viking is in cinemas from 28 June 2019. Get all the latest sci-fi news with every issue of SciFiNow.
