There’s a rumour going around that Red Skull lackey, assassin, thug and all round bad dick Brock ‘Crossbones’ Rumlow who infamously took a shot at Cap in the Death Of Captain America comic-book story arc could be appearing in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and that The Grey/Warrior‘s Frank Grillo is in the running.

Grillo tweeted less than enigmatically, “See Ya LA. It was a a good trip. Marvel was a lot of fun. Be cool if it works out. #CaptainAmerica.”

Meanwhile, an insider added that Grillo had been screen tested, and “is THIS CLOSE to getting the role of Crossbones in the Marvel movies.”

In the comic-book, the Winter Soldier storyline kicks off with the Red Skull’s death at the hands of the titular Soviet-era assassin – gelling nicely with Hugo Weaving’s reluctance to reprise the role – and loyal buttoman Crossbones and the Red Skull’s daughter, Sinthea ‘Sin’ Schmidt, go on a rampage to bring down the Soldier’s handler, Aleksander Lukin.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is due in cinemas 4 April 2014.
