Independent studio Vertigo Films is producing the UK’s first 3D horror movie, Elfie Hopkins And The Gammons, according to Variety. The film is a co-production with Size 9 Productions and already has Jaime Winstone cast in the lead role.
The Donkey Punch star will be playing the part of a misfit teen, Elfie, who has aspirations to be a detective. Following the arrival of the strange Gammon family in her rural village, Elfie sets out to investigate.
Ryan Andrews has co-written the script with Riyad Barmania, who will also direct. Size 9 Productions’ Michael Wiggs and Steve Matthews will be producing this pioneering feature. Speaking to Screen Daily about the move into 3D, Matthews was extremely positive: “It’s incredibly exciting to be working at the forefront of the new 3D technology, which doesn’t have to be the preserve of the big budget movies. 3D is perfect for Ryan’s dark fairy-tale vision.”
Elfie Hopkins And The Gammons has no release date and will begin shooting Wales later on in the year.
