Bong Joon-Ho’s monster movie Okja gets awesome cast

Snowpiercer director lands some great actors for his latest film

Bong Joon-Ho returns to monster movies for the first time since The Host

We’re huge fans of Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-Ho. He’s made a brilliant thriller (Memories Of Murder), a brilliant drama (Mother), a brilliant monster movie (The Host), and his English language debut Snowpiercer was a stunning piece of sci-fi. Now, he’s heading back to monster movie territory and he’s landed one hell of a cast.

The Wrap reports that Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, Kelly MacDonald and Bill Nighy are set to join Tilda Swinton in Okja. Details are light but Korean Film Biz (via SlashFilm) stated that the film will “center on a rural girl from Korea’s Gang-won Province who travels between Korea and the US.”

After the tortured release of Snowpiercer (are we ever going to get it in the UK?!?) it’s great to hear that he’s back in production on a new film. And if Okja is anywhere near as good as The Host, then we’re in for a treat.

You can buy The Host on Blu-ray for £6.20 at Amazon.co.uk. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
