Beauty And The Beast pics reveal live-action cast

Disney’s new Beauty and the Beast stand revealed in these new photos

While Disney going live-action is nothing new (in recent years both Alice In Wonderland and Cinderella have got the treatment), there’s something special about Beauty And The Beast; something inherently ‘Disney’ about what is already a pretty timeless story.

Hence why we’re so excited about the upcoming reimagining of the story. Normally we’d reserve a healthy dose of scepticism for what is likely to be something not all that different from the original animated feature, and normally the fact that everything looks so similar wouldn’t necessarily be a cause for celebration, but it is here. Everything just looks so: right.

Thus, we have our first proper look at all the major players: we have the new Belle (Emma Watson) and the Beast (Dan Stevens, assisted by a healthy dose of CGI), as well as Belle’s father Maurice (Kevin Kline), her evil suitor Gaston (Luke Evans), and tabletop ornaments-turned-sentient Lumière (Ewan McGregor), Cogsworth (Sir Ian McKellen), Mrs Potts (Emma Thompson) and Plumette (Gugu Mbatha-Raw).

Entertainment Weekly has the first cover from the film (showing the two in their iconic dance scene), as well as a whole bunch of new images from the film, which you can see below.

Bill Condon is on directing duties, working from a script penned by Evan Spiliotopoulos and Stephen Chbosky.

Beauty And The Beast will be released in cinemas on 17 March 2017. For all the latest movie news, pick up the new issue of SciFiNow.
