Arnold Schwarzenegger turned down The Predator

Dutch won’t be getting to the chopper in Shane Black’s The Predator

It’s a big morning for Arnold Schwarzenegger not being in films. Following the news that Universal isn’t moving ahead with Legend Of Conan, we’ve now heard that Arnie will not be appearing in Shane Black’s now-filming The Predator.

Speaking to Yahoo Movies about his new drama Aftermath, Schwarzenegger gave a definitive answer to the question of whether or not he’d be reprising his role as Dutch in Black’s new film.

“They asked me, and I read it, and I didn’t like it — whatever they offered,” he said. “So I’m not going to do that, no. Except if there’s a chance that they rewrite it, or make it a more significant role. But the way it is now, no, I won’t do that.”

The theory going around seems to be that what he’s referring to is the fact that he wouldn’t have had very much to do in the new film. This seems to be backed up by Black’s response to a comment on Twitter.

Whether it was the size of the role or his opinion of the script, Arnie’s decision doesn’t change the fact that The Predator has an awesome cast already. The movie stars Boyd Holbrook (Logan), Jacob Tremblay (Room), Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse), Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck), Keegan Michael-Key (Keanu), Alfie Allen (Game Of Thrones), Sterling K Brown (The People Vs OJ Simpson), Augusto Aguilera (Chasing Life), Jake Busey (The Frighteners), and Thomas Jane (The Mist), and the great Edward James Olmos recently joined the cast.

The Predator is set for release on 9 February 2018 in the US and 2 March in the UK. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
