Aquaman movie director could be Fast and Furious veteran

Warner Bros lines up Aquaman director having noticed how good the Fast and Furious movies are

AquamanWith rumours swirling that Phil Lord and Chris Miller are being lined up to direct The Flash, it’s now Aquaman‘s turn to enjoy some director rumours.

THR reports that James Wan is being hunted by Warner Bros to direct Jason Momoa in the Justice League staple’s solo outing. Wan is something of a hot property at the moment having directed Furious 7, which managed the rare trick of getting good reviews and being a money making machine.

Wan’s star has only risen in recent years, as the Saw director had great success with Insidious and The Conjuring. There are a couple of roadblocks; he’s tied up with The Conjuring 2 right now, and Universal could exercise his contractual obligation to make Fast & Furious 8.

However, THR reports that preliminary reports have taken place. Interestingly, there were also rumours that Wan was being lined up to direct Shazam! after working with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson on Furious 7.

Meanwhile, Aquaman is still at the script stage, with two screenplays being written by Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad, with the release date a little over three years away.

Aquaman will be released in cinemas 27 July 2018. For more on the comics that have inspired the movie, pick up our 100 All-Time Greatest Comics bookazine now!
