Five Nights At Freddy’s gets a sequel

We’re heading back to the pizzeria as Five Nights At Freddy’s gets a sequel scheduled for 2025.

Following on from its release last October, Blumhouse and Universal’s Five Nights At Freddy’s is officially getting a sequel, as confirmed by Universal President of Domestic Theatrical Distribution Jim Orr during Universal’s CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas.

Based on the popular videogame of the same name, the first movie followed troubled security guard, Mike (played by Josh Hutcherson) as he began working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While spending his first night on the job, he realised the night shift at Freddy’s wouldn’t be so easy to make it through.

Though we gave the movie two stars in our review (which you can read here), the movie became the highest-grossing Blumhouse release of all time with $283.1 million, surpassing the global tally of M. Night Shyamalan’s 2016 thriller Split (which made $278.7 million).

We’ve no further word on the sequel but we do know that the movie will be released in the autumn of 2025.
