According to Deadline, 20th Century Fox have brought RoboCop remake writer Josh Zetumer onto the Channing Tatum fronted X-Men spin-off movie based around ragin’ Cajun mutant Gambit.

The production is also going right back to the source, with the site reporting that the movie is to be based on a treatment written by definitive X-Men comic writer Chris Claremont (whose storylines inspired X-Men 2, The Wolverine, X-Men Origins: Wolverine and X-Men: Days Of Future Past).

Claremont co-created Gambit alongside artist Jim Lee in 1990, so he knows what he’s doing.

X-Men: Apocalypse is in cinemas on 27 May 2016. You can pre-order X-Men: Days Of Future Past on Blu-ray for £15 at Amazon.co.uk and read about the comics that inspired the film with the100 All-Time Greatest Comics Bookazine
