Despite early talk that The Wolverine would be an R-rated movie, some violence did make the cutting room floor – including a whole sequence that’s in one of the trailers, but didn’t actually make it into the movie where Logan ruptures a gas-tank bowling ninja over in the explosion.
Speaking to Digital Spy, director James Mangold toys with the possibility of releasing the film uncut, saying, “I’m very happy with the cut, and the studio was very generous in terms of letting me finish the movie as I wanted, but I do think we will have a slightly more violent version… let’s say an unrated, a bloodier version.
“There’s about 10 or 12 minutes of scenes that I’d love people to see, that we’ll produce some kind of longer version of the movie at some point on Blu-ray or whatever. There’s another great scene with Hiro Sanada and a much more elaborate battle with ninjas from the third act that is a pretty huge battle sequence that you’ll see.”
The Wolverine is released in UK cinemas on 25 July 2013. You can buy X-Men: The Ultimate Collection on Blu-ray for £32.68 at Amazon.co.uk.
