In an appropriate piece of casting, The Hollywood Reporter have revealed that Prison Break star Dominic Purcell is joining his on-screen brother Wentworth Miller (as Captain Cold) in The CW’s Flash TV show.
Purcell will play pyromaniac supervillain Mick Rory, better known as Heat Wave, a core member of the Rogues introduced by artist Carmine Infantino and writer John Broome in Flash #140 (November 1963).
Purcell is set to debut, along with Miller, in Episode 4 of the show, so expect some cracking chemistry from the two classic supervillains and their complementary powers of fire and ice.
In the comics Heat Wave has a handgun-sized flamethrower and flame retardant suit, and given The Flash isn’t shying away from the crazier aspects of the DC Universe like Arrow, we can probably expect something very similar… after all, flamethrowers actually exist.
The Flash will debut 7 October 2014 on The CW in the US. Find out more about the comics that inspired the show with new digital magazine Uncanny Comics.
