Game Of Thrones, American Horror Story among Golden Globe 2012 genre nominees

by Samuel Roberts

Peter Dinklage and Hugo also gets nods; The Walking Dead and True Blood are overlooked

Game Of Thrones, American Horror Story among Golden Globe 2012 genre nomineesGame Of Thrones and American Horror Story are in contention for the Best Drama award at next year’s Golden Globe Awards. The two shows, which will go up against non-genre entries like Homeland, Boardwalk Empire and Boss, mean that genre shows are well-represented in major categories once again (last year The Walking Dead and True Blood competed for the same award). Peter Dinklage, who won a Supporting Actor Emmy for his portrayal of Tyrion Lannister in Game Of Thrones, is nominated for the same category here, too. Despite an extremely strong opening arc of episodes, The Walking Dead was snubbed, as was True Blood’s bonkers fourth year. On the film side, Hugo and its director, Martin Scorsese, were nominated.

The 2012 Golden Globes, thankfully once again hosted by Ricky Gervais, will take place in January.

Good to hear Game Of Thrones and American Horror Story are in there – but no love for Chuck, Eureka, Lost Girl, Warehouse 13 or Supernatural?
