Futurama renewed for 13 episodes?

by James Rundle

futuramaA report from Collider, citing unnamed sources, has stated definitively that Futurama will be back for a 13 episode order soon.

The website quotes an “insider source” at Comedy Central as stating that the show, which was cancelled and then brought back as a series of direct-to-DVD movies, will definitely be going back on the air, and that the writing departments have already re-opened. Collider also suggests that the show will have a presence at San Diego Comic Con International next month.

Futurama was created by Matt Groenig (The Simpsons), and developed with David X Cohen. The show originally aired on Fox in 1999, but after it was dropped from the production run in 2003, rerun rights were sold to Comedy Central. Recent DVD releases for the series include Bender’s Game, The Beast With A Billion Backs and Bender’s Big Score, among others.
