Ash Vs Evil Dead has found its female lead in Sleepy Hollow‘s Jill Marie Jones.

Deadline reports that Jones, who played Cynthia Irving on Fox’s hit series, has signed on to star alongside Bruce Campbell in Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead TV show. She’s also starred in Girlfriends and American Horror Story.

“After the grisly murder of her partner, disgraced Michigan State Trooper Amanda Fisher (Jones) sets out to find our anti-hero Ash (original franchise star Bruce Campbell) and prove his responsibility for the crime. But as she soon learns, Ash and his cohorts may be mankind’s only hope against the plague of Evil Dead.”

The pilot will be directed by Raimi himself, and production begins on the 10 episode season in New Zealand in the Spring. Ash Vs Evil Dead also stars Ray Santiago and Dana DeLorenzo.

Ash Vs Evil Dead starts shooting in Spring in New Zealand with an eye to airing in late 2015. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
