Could Netflix be stepping in to save Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez&#8217;s beloved<strong><em> Locke And Key<\/em><\/strong> from a neverending chain of cancelled TV adaptations?<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/live-feed\/locke-key-picked-up-series-at-netflix-1115562?utm_source=dlvr.it&amp;utm_medium=twitter\">THR<\/a>&#8230;.maybe! The site claims that Netflix is in negotiations to pick up the most recent incarnation of the show, which got as far as the pilot stage with director Andy (<strong><em>IT<\/em><\/strong>) Muschietti attached before being denied the greenlight.<\/p>\n<p>If Netflix closes the deal, the show will get a straight-to-series order, giving it that sweet first season it has been denied for so long, with showrunner and executive producer Carlton Cuse (<strong><em>Bates Motel<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong><em>Lost<\/em><\/strong>) still on board.<\/p>\n<p>However, it won&#8217;t be the exact same pilot. Cuse and Hill will be reworking the whole thing, while Muschietti is too damn busy directing<strong><em> IT: Chapter 2<\/em> <\/strong>to return as pilot director (he&#8217;ll keep his executive producer credit) and the show will reportedly be completely recast (no more Frances O&#8217;Connor, Nate Corddry, Samantha Mathis or Danny Glover).<\/p>\n<p>Publishers IDW and Cuse and Muschietti&#8217;s agency WME aggressively pursued a new home for <strong><em>Locke And Key<\/em><\/strong> after Hulu passed (a decision that is apparently entirely down to new CEO Randy Freer, who decided the show was a no in spite of a lot of enthusiasm), and it looks like they might have found one.<\/p>\n<p>However, we <strong><em>Locke And Key<\/em><\/strong> fans have learned to be sceptical of good news when it comes to adaptations, greenlights and broadcasters\/streaming services, so we&#8217;re going to wait until it&#8217;s official to start celebrating.
