The premier date and trailer for the Disney+ adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra graphic novel series, Y: The Last Manhas been revealed…

Y: The Last Man traverses a post-apocalyptic world in which a cataclysmic event decimates every mammal with a Y chromosome but for one cisgender man and his pet monkey. The series follows the survivors in this new world as they struggle with their efforts to restore what was lost and the opportunity to build something better.

Developed for television by showrunner Eliza Clark, Y: The Last Man stars Diane Lane (Zack Snyder’s Justice League), Ashley Romans (NOS4A2), Ben Schnetzer (Warcraft: The Beginning), Olivia Thirlby (Dredd), Amber Tamblyn (The Grudge 2), Marin Ireland (The Umbrella Academy), Diana Bang (Resident Alien), Elliot Fletcher (Runaways) and Juliana Canfield (Succession)

All episodes of the season will be directed by women and the production has a significant number of female department heads, including both DPs, the production designer, costume designer, casting director, editors, stunt coordinator and more, Disney+ says.

Y: The Last Man will be streaming through the Star offering on Disney+ in the UK with the first three episodes on 22 September, with new episodes every Wednesday.
