Ahead of the finale of House Of The Dragon Season Two, American streaming service Max released an exciting teaser for some of its upcoming series, including – for us genre fans – The Last Of Us Season Two, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, It: Welcome To Derry, Creature Commandos, Dune: Prophecy and The Penguin.
Check it out here…
For us geek fans, the new brand spot features footage from highly anticipated HBO and Max Originals coming later this year and in 2025, including a look at adult animated Max Original Creature Commandos, the first series out of the new DC Universe under James Gunn and Peter Safran; Dune: Prophecy, a six-episode HBO Original drama series from the expansive universe of Dune; and The Penguin, the eight-episode HBO Original and DC Studios limited series, starring Colin Farrell.
The spot also highlighted never-before-seen footage from new HBO Originals including A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, an adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s novella ‘The Hedge Knight’; and, It: Welcome To Derry, the prequel series to the hit films with a story by Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs.
That’s not all, Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey are back for the highly-anticipated second series of The Last Of Us, which blew away audiences (and us) when it was released on Sky back in 2023. The clip from the upcoming season even includes snippets from new cast members Catherine O’Hara (in a role that’s still being kept under wraps) and Jeffrey Wright who will be reprising the role of Isaac, the character he voiced in The Last of Us: Part II video game.
Now, we don’t yet know when the new series is out, we just know it will be released in 2025 and that the new series will be sorter, comprising seven episodes, which was revealed back in June by the show’s series co-creators, executive producers, showrunners and directors Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann to Deadline.
“We don’t think that we’re going to be able to tell the story even within two seasons [2 and 3] because we’re taking our time and go down interesting pathways which we did a little bit in Season 1 too,” Mazin said to the publication. “We feel like it’s almost assuredly going to be the case that — as long as people keep watching and we can keep making more television — Season Three will be significantly larger.
“And indeed, the story may require Season Four.”
