Red Dwarf Starbug model auctioned for Comic Relief

Bid on a replica of Red Dwarf’s Starbug created by the show’s SFX team

It’s Comic Relief time again, and the Red Dwarf team is auctioning of something special for Red Nose Day.

You can bid in an auction to win a model of Starbug that crashed in the episode ‘Twentica’ created by 3D printing specialists Voxeljet. See, the makers of Red Dwarf realised that Starbug crashes A LOT, so the Voxeljet team was brought in to create replicas while keeping the main model in one piece.

Here’s the info:

“An exact simulation of the one that crashed in ‘Twentica’ in Red Dwarf XI. Ideal dysfunctional family ship to planet saloon craft. One not careful owner, 3,000,000 light years on the clock, no MOT or tax or brakes. Doesn’t come with any extras like furry dashboard dice. No time wasters, Lister that means you. Comes with certificate of authentication signed by Doug Naylor. Start smegging bidding.

This prize has kindly been donated by Voxeljet and Red Dwarf.”

The bidding is open until 27 March so head over here to get bidding. You can see more Red Nose Day auction items here.
