Murderbot: Alexander Skarsgård stars in new comedy sci-fi series

A rogue robot has to deal with a bunch of ‘idiot’ humans in Apple TV+’s new show, Murderbot. Watch the trailer…

Alexander Skarsgård stars as a robot that’s hacked its safety protocols and gone rogue in Apple TV+’s upcoming sci-fi comedy series Murderbot. But don’t let the title put you off, this robot would rather be watching his trashy TV shows than dealing with humans.

Check out the trailer here…

Hailing from Academy Award nominees Chris and Paul Weitz (About A Boy) and based on Martha Wells’ best-selling book series The Murderbot Diaries, the show follows a self-hacking security construct who is horrified by human emotion yet drawn to its vulnerable clients. Murderbot must hide its free will and complete a dangerous assignment when all it really wants is to be left alone to watch futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe.

Alongside Skarsgård, the ensemble cast also includes Noma Dumezweni (The Watcher), David Dastmalchian (Late Night with the Devil), Sabrina Wu (Joy Ride), Akshay Khanna (The Doll Factory), Tattiawna Jones (Lost in Space) and Tamara Podemski (Outer Range). Skarsgård also serves as executive producer on the series.

The ten-episode series of Murderbot will premiere globally on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes on Friday 16 May 2025, then followed by new episodes every Friday through to 11 July.
