Citing sources at CBS, the Reporter cites the fact that Moonlight was failing to hold its lead-in from Ghost Whisperer, and a general decline in ratings following the WGA strikes earlier this year. Last Friday’s episode garnered a 2.0 rating among the key demographic of 18-49.

This news will come as a shock to Moonlight fans, who have by far outdone their counterparts in the Jericho Rangers by organising blood drives and other charitable causes to keep their show on the air.

However, Nikki Finke is reporting that The CW is possibly interested in taking the show on board, despite the order coming down from Warner Bros. to rip down the show’s sets.

UPDATE: CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler has confirmed that Moonlight will not be returning on The CW during an upfront presentation to advertisers yesterday.
