Top 10 Sci-Fi and Horror Remakes

Not all remakes are bad…

La Jettée 1962 vs 12 Monkeys 1995
The little known short, directed by Chris Marker, was a French film entirely made with still photos. The widely psychedelic film depicted time travel that was only possible by travelling through thoughts and memories. Then in the ’90s along came Monty Python, Terry Gilliam, sans LSD and turned it into a modern mind-bending sc-fi classic starring Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt.

Invasion of the body Snatchers 1956 vs Invasion of the Body Snatchers 1978

The original, a thinly veiled criticism of the McCarthy witch hunts, was a masterpiece in sci-fi paranoia. Directed by Don Siegel (and part written by a young Sam Peckinpah) ,the BodySnatchers’ strength lies in the hopelessness that hero, Dr Miles J Bennel, feels when the whole town is slowly taken over and replicated by alien seed pods. The amazing remake moves the action and those screams to San Francisco, and stars Donald Sutherland and a sinister Leonard Nimoy.
