Top 10 Sci-Fi and Horror Remakes

Not all remakes are bad…

Little Shop of Horrors 1960 vs Little Shop of Horrors 1986
The original was a barmy little horror comedy that was directed and allegedly written in two days by the master of cult cinema, Roger Corman, and featured a very short performance by none other than Jack Nicholson. The story of a mild mannered young flower shop worker, Seymour Kelboyne, who is forced to feed humans to a carnivorous plant, was remade in 1986 by Frank Oz (the voice of Yoda and Miss Piggy) into a tongue- in-cheek musical. It featured a veritable checklist of ’80s comedians, including Rick Moranis, Bill Murray, John Candy, Christopher Guest and manic performance by Steve martin as a deranged dentist.

The Blob 1958 vs the Blob 1988
The premise of a young Steve McQueen battling against a shapeless pink blob in a small town is 1950s Americana was a typical B movie affair indeed. But move on to the 1980s and the remake delivers an early Frank Darabont (The Mist, The Walking Dead) script plus more shocks and sickening blob-related deaths that you can shake a box of popcorn at.
