Ten of the best… doppelgängers

Some of the best lookalikes, impersonators, spitting images and body doubles in sci-fi.

evil-bill-and-ted6. Evil Bill And Ted
Film: Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey
Year:
1991
Director: Peter Hewitt
Cast: Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter, William Sadler

Any film that features Joss “Diplomatic Immunity” Ackland receiving a wedgie is always going to make a ‘Ten of the best’ list, but our focus at the moment is on Bogus Journey’s two doofus heroes. Killed off near the start of the film by evil robotic versions of themselves, Bill and Ted roam the afterlife and play parlour games with Death, while their evil counterparts attempt to stop Wyld Stallyns once and for all. Cue sketches of the two trashing Bill and Ted’s apartment, upsetting their girlfriends and playing basketball with their heads.

cody5. Clone Troopers
Film: Star Wars II & III
Year:
2002
Director: George Lucas
Cast: Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Hayden Christensen

When Obi’Wan Kenobi travels to the planet of Kamino, the last thing he expects to find is an army of clones being created for the Republic at the behest of the mysterious Sifo-Dyas. What’s more, they all look like that bloke from Once Were Warriors. The discovery not only explains where Darth Vader gets all of his stormtroopers from, it also enables Lucas to create one of the second trilogy’s few moving scenes when the Emperor activates Order 66 in Episode III.
