Great news for fans of 2009’s best zombie comedy, as Zombieland 2 is officially a go.
Deadline reports that the sequel, which has been languishing in development hell for a good few years, has suddenly been given a lease of life.
Director Ruben Fleischer is confirmed to supervise the writing, and new writer David Callaham has been hired to script. Callaham wrote The Expendables, worked on Godzilla and Deadline notes that it was his work on the remake of Jo Nesbo’s dark comedy crime drama Jackpot that secured him the gig writing this undead follow-up.
Although Fleischer isn’t yet confirmed to direct (although it seems likely), it’s great to hear he’s involved, even if original writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick won’t be (perhaps they’ve had enough after the abandoned Amazon pilot).
It’s not yet confirmed whether Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone or Abigail Breslin will be back.
You can buy Zombieland on DVD for £3.99 at Amazon.co.uk and keep up with the latest zombie news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
