The upcoming sequel to 2009 comedy-horror Zombieland has officially added Zoey Deutch to the cast, according to Variety.
Deutch is known for her work in films like Flower, Before I Fall and Everybody Wants Some!!, as well as starring in this year’s Netflix rom com hit Set It Up.
Zombieland 2 will see her join already-announced cast members Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin, who are all reprising their roles from the original film.
The sequel will go into production in January and will be released in October in time for the 10th anniversary of Zombieland. Director Ruben Fleischer (Venom) is returning to helm the film, while Deadpool writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese are writing the screenplay. Gavin Polone is producing, while Reese and Wernick are both serving as executive producers.
For those who are somehow unfamiliar with the original film, here’s the Amazon synopsis:
Nerdy college student Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) has survived the plague that has turned mankind into flesh-devouring zombies because he’s scared of just about everything. Gun-toting, Twinkie-loving Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) has no fears. Together, they are about to stare down their most horrifying challenge yet: each other’s company. Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin co-star in this double-hitting, head-smashing comedy.
Zombieland 2 is set to be released on 11 October 2019. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
