X-Men: Apocalypse cast won’t include two major stars

Two big names will not star in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse

x-men dofpX-Men: Days Of Future Past might have acted as a bit of a roll-call for the old cast and the new, but it looks as though two of the franchise’s biggest names won’t be returning for next year’s X-Men: Apocalypse.

Yahoo Movies reports that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen won’t be appearing as older Professor X and Magneto respectively.

When asked if he’d star in the new film, Stewart responded “No. Nor Sir Ian McKellen, either. I was learning quite a lot more about it last night, and it is going to be looking very much at the earlier lives of all our characters. And so I don’t think we’ll be making an appearance.”

While it certainly makes sense that the franchise would be wanting to make the most of its younger, increasingly ridiculously starry cast, including James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender as the veterans’ younger selves, it’s a bit of a surprise to hear that they won’t be making an appearance at all, although there’s obviously a big chance they’ll pop up at some point. It’s not exactly a series that’s shy about cameos…
