X-Men: Apocalypse casts Star Wars favourite as En Sabah Nur

Find out who will be playing En Sabah Nur in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse

Considering it isn’t out until 2016 it’s a little surprising to get this news so early, but today it has been confirmed by Variety that Oscar Isaac will be playing the titular bad guy in X-Men: Apocalypse.

It marks the latest in a string of big roles for Isaac, who most recently starred in the Coen Brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis, and will also feature in the upcoming Ex Machina and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

For those who are unaware, Apocalypse, En Sabah Nur, is an aeons-old mutant who is one of the X-Men’s deadliest adversaries. He frequently turns up with his Four Horsemen (Famine, Pestilence, Death and War) in tow – one of who is usually a brainwashed former/current X-Men, so expect further casting developments on that front too.

X-Men: Apocalypse will be released in cinemas on 19 May 2016. For more on the comics that have inspired the show, pick up our 100 All-Time Greatest Comics bookazine now!
