The forthcoming X-Files limited series has added another funnyman to its cast, following in the wake of Community’s Joel McHale. Now, it has been confirmed that Flight Of The Conchords and What We Do In The Shadows star Rhys Darby is on board.

The exact nature of his role is unknown at present, but considering the tone of the show, it will likely see him go against type. Saying that, he is used to delving into  the weird and wonderful, considering that he hosts a podcast on cryptology called ‘The Cryptid Factor’, so he might well be a perfect fit.

He joins a cast that includes leads David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, the returning Mitch Pileggi and William B Davis, and supporting cast members Joel McHale and Annet Mahendru.

The X-Files miniseries will air from 24 January 2016 on Fox in the US. For more on the biggest TV series, pick up the latest issue of SciFiNow.
