X Files fan favourites confirmed to return

Guess which trio will be making an unlikely comeback in the X Files Revival

X-Files fan favourites the Lone Gunmen will return – in some capacity

Another snippet to add to the collection of X-Files things-we-definitely-know is that fan favourites the Lone Gunmen: John Fitzgerald Byers (Bruce Harwood), Melvin Frohike (Tom Braidwood) and Richard Langly (Dean Haglund) will be returning to the show.

The news was confirmed in a tweet by Haglund, who simply replied “Yep. It’s true” in response to a fan enquiry. Fans of the the nerdy conspiracy theorists and allies of Mulder and Scully rejoice: the Lone Gunmen will ride once more.

Or will they? After the cancellation of their own spinoff series, the trio were seemingly killed off in the X-Files episode ‘Jump The Shark’, sacrificing their own lives in order to contain a deadly virus. This all begs the question of whether their presence will all be part of some flashback sequence, but we wouldn’t put it past them to somehow survive.

The new series of The X-Files will also see David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Mitch Pileggi and William B Davis return to their original roles, as well as featuring new additions Joel McHale, Annet Mahendru, Rhys Darby, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ambrose and Robbie Amell.

The X-Files premieres on FOX on 24 January 2016 in the US. A UK air date is yet to be announced. You can buy The X-Files: The Complete Collector’s Edition on DVD for £124.90 from Amazon.co.uk. Get all the latest sci-fi news with every issue of SciFiNow.
