Writers confirmed for Tomb Raider movie reboot

The duo behind Iron Man and Cowboys & Aliens take on Lara Croft

Screenwriting duo Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, whose credits include rewrites on the forthcoming Cowboys & Aliens, and other genre hits Iron Man and Children Of Men, have been hired by GK Films to script their Tomb Raider reboot. GK picked up the title from games publisher Eidos in March, with producer Graham King saying, “We are very excited to be rebooting what is already a hugely successful film franchise and continuing the Tomb Raider phenomenon.”

The gaming franchise originally made it to the big screen in 2001’s Lara Croft: Tomb Raider with Angelina Jolie in the title role, which she reprised for 2003’s Tomb Raider: The Cradle Of Life.

No other details are known, but the new film is expected in summer 2013.
