What a journey the solo Wonder Woman movie has been on.

From Warner Bros’ initial hesitance over whether there would actually be one, to their recognition that women exist and the world wouldn’t end if you gave a film to one and then finally zeroing in on a female director.

We sure are, princess!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the previously rumoured Michelle MacLaren has been confirmed as director of the Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice spin-off, with Gal Gadot in the title role and Man Of Steel‘s Charles Roven, Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder to produce.

Interestingly the choice of MacLaren – primarily a TV director with episodes of Game Of Thrones, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead under her belt – looks like Warner Bros moving away from the ‘DC method’ of big name Hollywood creators (Zack Snyder, Christopher Nolan) and closer to the ‘Marvel method’ of recruiting TV veterans to shade in the worldbuilding between tentpole team-ups (Alan Taylor, Anthony and Joe Russo).

Is this a sign of things to come? It’s certainly keeping us on our toes…
