Wonder Woman 1984 first look at Kristen Wiig as Cheetah

Get a first look at Kristen Wiig as Cheetah in Wonder Woman 1984

After a couple of first looks at Wonder Woman 1984 (and indeed a title reveal) earlier this month, Patty Jenkins finally shared a peek at Kristen Wiig as Barbara Minerva AKA supervillain Cheetah. Check it out:

Sure, she’s not in the Cheetah garb, but some things need to be left as a surprise…

For those unfamiliar with Cheetah, a little history: first appearing in ‘Wonder Woman #6’ in 1943 she’s one of Diana’s oldest adversaries, though there have been four incarnations of Cheetah since her debut: Priscilla Rich (the Golden and Silver Age Cheetah), Deborah Domaine (the Bronze Age Cheetah), Barbara Ann Minerva (the post-Crisis and current Cheetah), and Sebastian Ballesteros (a male Cheetah who briefly took the role in 2001).

Rich, Minerva and Ballesteros all had the physical appearance of a cheetah, which was granted to them by the plant-god Urzkartaga. Some incarnations also possessed superhuman speed, reaction time, strength and durability, while their sense of smell is enhanced and they can see in the dark.

Wonder Woman 1984 also stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, and Pedro Pascal in an undisclosed role. Patty Jenkins is directing once again, from a screenplay by Jenkins, Dave Callaham and Geoff Johns.

Wonder Woman 1984 will be released on 1 November 2019. Get all the latest superhero news with every issue of SciFiNow.
