“I did not start this war. I offered you peace, I showed you mercy, but now you’re here to finish us off for good.”
So says Caesar (Andy Serkis) in the fascinating first trailer for War For The Planet Of The Apes, the third movie in the rebooted franchise to cap off what has been a great week for film trailers.
In truth, it’s not quite a planet of apes just yet, what with there still being a significant human resistance in the way, including among their number the sadistic-looking Colonel (Woody Harrelson channelling his inner Kurtz). To get up to this point, there clearly has to be a substantial number of ape-on-human punch-ups to be had – which judging by this trailer, seems to be provided in abundance. Welcome to the jungle indeed.
