Vixen web series confirmed to return for Season 2

A second season will follow Vixen’s live-action debut in Arrow

Not many of you many have seen it over here, but the popularity of superhero web series Vixen, which has been airing online on The CW Seed, is such that it will see the character soon spin off into a live-action appearance in sister show Arrow, with voice actress Megalyn EK reprising her role as Mari McCabe. However, that’s not all, as while speaking at the TCAs, CW president Mark Pedowitz confirmed that the character would be returning for a second season of her own series.

Unsurprisingly, this has led to an influx of rumours that she will ultimately end up helming her own live-action series, and while Pedowitz would neither confirm or deny this, he did raise hopes that she could become a more regular feature, saying, “Hopefully, that character could actually spin itself out, if not, maybe join as one of the Legends [Of Tomorrow].” For those thinking that the idea might seem rather far-fetched, he went on to point out, “at this moment last year, Legends didn’t really exist. So time will take its toll.”

Indeed, with the developments taking place in the CW-verse, a Vixen series – or indeed, a more regular slot on Legends Of Tomorrow, which judging by these comments seems to have been earmarked for an extended life beyond its initial first season – wouldn’t be the most likely thing. The premise of a character being able to take on the abilities of any animal through a magical totem is worlds apart from anything we’ve seen on the network so far (even if it does sound worryingly like Manimal), and special effects budget permitting, this is something we could see succeeding.

The air date for Vixen: Season Two is yet to be announced. For all the biggest superhero movie news, pick up the latest issue of SciFiNow.
