Universal monster movie reboot gets awesome writer

The writer of one the year’s best TV shows signs on to script new Universal monster movie

Universal monstersUniversal are pushing ahead with their plan to reboot their classic monster movies, and there’s some very, very good news about that today.

Deadline reports that Fargo writer Noah Hawley is working on an untitled project that “will be part of that studio’s classic monster franchise push.”

This was part of a larger story about Hawley adapting his own novel Before The Fall for the big screen and it’s a disappointingly small mention as we’d love to know which project he’s got his hands on.

We do know that Alex Kurtzman is directing the reboot of The Mummy, so which do you think Hawley would be best suited for? Fargo was a pitch black, darkly comic tale that showed both the best and absolute worst that humanity has to offer… so… maybe Frankenstein? The Invisible Man? The Wolf Man? Hmm… to be honest, we’d be thrilled to hear that he’s working on any of them.

We can probably assume that details will emerge soon, so keep an eye out.

You can buy Universal Classic Monsters: The Essential Collection on Blu-ray for £21.30 at Amazon.co.uk. Keep up with the latest monster movie news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
