It’s been a little quiet on the Underworld 5 front recently, but some pretty big casting news has just been announced.
Deadline reports that Merlin star Bradley James will take the villain role opposite Kate Beckinsale in the vampires-vs-lycans franchise’s fifth film.
Also confirmed to star as Divergent‘s Theo James, returning as vampire David after his appearance in Underworld: Awakening, as well as Outlander‘s Tobias Menzies, who’s playing a Lycan leader called Marius.
The rumour is that the film will focus on Selene and Michael’s (Scott Speedman) daughter Eve, who made her debut in Awakening. Anna Foerster is making her directorial debut on the film, which starts shooting next month in Prague.
The murky, unnecessarily 3D Awakening wasn’t exactly a highlight for the franchise, which also suffered the indignity of using archive footage to cover for Speedman’s absence. Here’s hoping the fifth movie will turn things around.
