Uncharted film is actually happening, has a director

The Uncharted film finally has a director! It’s all happening, people!

We’ve been promised a film based on the Uncharted video games for years, but alas, it never seems to move. Or rather, it does move, just in the wrong direction. Until now.

Night At The Museum and Cheaper By The Dozen director Shawn Levy has officially signed up to helm the film. Levy’s most recent work includes executive producing Netflix hit Stranger Things, as well as directing the episodes ‘Holly Jolly‘ and ‘The Body‘.

Levy is still committed to his Stranger Things EP duties, and he’s already agreed to direct a couple more episodes for Season Two. However, Uncharted has now been fast tracked as a result of Levy’s involvement, so we’ll see how that pans out, we guess.

Uncharted, which is being produced by Sony, has been experiencing production problems for a while, with directors dropping in and dropping out all over the place. People previously confirmed to be directing include Neil Burger (The Illusionist), David O Russell (Silver Linings Playbook) and Seth Gordon (BaywatchHorrible Bosses). Hopefully fourth time’s a charm.

Uncharted, developed by Naughty Dog, is an action adventure third-person shooter platform video game series which revolves around treasure hunter Nathan “Nate” Drake as he travels the world and uncovers a series of historical mysteries. It’s basically The Librarian starring Noah Wyle but better.

Uncharted does not yet have a release date. Get all the latest fantasy news with every issue of SciFiNow.
