Twin Peaks Season 3 lures in big name to cast

David Lynch’s Twin Peaks revival has made an impressive new cast addition

Ever since the whole off-on again saga that went on earlier in the year, news has been pretty light on the Twin Peaks Season 3 front, with the ever-cryptic David Lynch understandably choosing to keep his cards as close to his chest as possible. Finally, however, we have something to report, with TVLine announcing that Mamma Mia and Les Miserables star Amanda Seyfried has been confirmed for a role in the third season.

While the exact nature of who she’ll be playing hasn’t been detailed yet, it’s said that her character will be a “pivotal, new character”, possibly connected in some way to one of the major returning players. Whoever it is, getting someone of the calibre of Seyfried on board is a massive coup, and has only heightened our anticipation even further.

The returning series is being written by David Lynch and Mark Frost, with Lynch directing every episode. Among the cast, the likes of Kyle MacLachlan, Sheryl Lee and Ray Wise are confirmed to be returning.

Twin Peaks: Season 3 will air on Showtime in the US in 2016, with a UK air date to follow. For more news about the biggest TV series, pick up the latest issue of SciFiNow.
