Twin Peaks Season 3 spoilers: fan favourite returns

Find out which main cast member will be returning to Twin Peaks for more damn fine coffee

In the wake of the announcement that a third season of Twin Peaks would be making its way to Showtime in 2016, fans of cherry pie and damn fine coffee everywhere have been eagerly awaiting the first casting announcements. Now, it appears we finally have something.

Kyle MacLachlan, who fans will fondly remember as Agent Dale Cooper, took to the stage at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour alongside Showtime boss David Nevins, dressed in Cooper’s trademark suit and bearing one of his much loved cuppas. Shortly after, show creator David Lynch tweeted: “Welcome back to #TwinPeaks Special Agent Dale Cooper! @KyleMacLachlan returns in ’16 on @SHO_Net Agent Dale Cooper Kyle MacLachlan Twin Peaks Season 3work #damnfinecoffee”.

With MacLachlan (who is currently starring as Calvin Zabo, aka Mister Hyde, in Marvel’s Agents Of SHIELD) confirmed to be appearing, we’re sure others will follow. Personally we’re anchoring for a return for Kimmy (Lucy Moran) and Benjamin Horne (Richard Beymer) – and if we’re being really picky, David Duchovny’s Agent Dennis/Denise Bryson would be a welcome bit of fan service.

Having ended the series apparently possessed by the murderous BOB after entering the Red Lodge, it’s unclear what kind of Cooper we will be seeing. Still, after MacLachlan’s disappointingly brief appearance in 1992’s Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, it’s good to see him back, and makes it all the more likely that we will be returning to the Twin Peaks of old – even if Lynch will almost certianly turn expectations completely on their head, like he always does.

Twin Peaks Season 3 will air on Showtime in 2016. Keep up with the latest genre TV news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
