It would seem that we’re not the only ones to be excited about David Lynch’s return to Twin Peaks, what with the amount of big names who have been confirmed to show up the hilly spooky haven. In addition to familiar faces like Kyle MacLachlan, Sheryl Lee, Dana Ashbrook, Madchen Amick, Kimmy Robertson and more, the likes of Amanda Seyfried, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Balthazar Getty will decamp to Twin Peaks for its much-anticipated third season. Now, we can add to more names to this impressive-looking roster.
First up is none other than Naomi Watts. A bit of a latter-day Lynch regular, having shown up in his two most recent films, Mulholland Drive and Inland Empire, it is definitely confidence-inspiring to see somebody of her calibre on board, especially considering her recent star turns in films like Birdman, St Vincent and While We’re Young.
Also recently confirmed is Tom Sizemore, who will be turning in his first collaboration with Lynch – which is pretty surprising, considering that his IMDb profile lists 174 acting credits at the time of writing. Although much of his recent work has been consigned to TV appearances and low-budget features, he still has a lot of excellent film roles under his belt: Strange Days, Saving Private Ryan, Bringing Out The Dead, Black Hawk Down, Heat, Natural Born Killers, True Romance, Point Break, Born On The Fourth Of July – the list goes on. Recalling these, it’ll be nice to see him in a more prominent role.
As you’d expect from a project involving David Lynch, there has been nothing confirmed about exactly who Watts or Sizemore will be playing – or any of the cast, for that matter. Still, would you really want to know.
Twin Peaks Season 3 will air on Showtime in the US in 2017, with a UK air date to follow. For more news about the biggest TV series, pick up the latest issue of SciFiNow.
