True Blood’s fifth season has a new vampire in town, to be played by Law & Order: SVU’s Christopher Meloni. As reported by TVLine, creator Alan Ball explained that this character is ‘an ancient and powerful vampire who holds the fate of Bill & Eric in his hands’. Meloni left Law & Order last year, and this is the second high-profile genre gig he’s landed recently – his first being a top secret role as a general in the upcoming Zack Snyder Superman film Man Of Steel. True Blood, meanwhile, is expected to return to HBO in July 2012, while Season 4 will air in January on FX UK.
